In the midst of Theo (James Cartwright) and Danielle's (Natalie Anderson) divorce, it looks like a new character is set to join Coronation Street in a bid to help the former couple navigate the choppy waters ahead.

It's been revealed that former Brookside actress Sarah White will be joining Corrie in a new role as a mediator for Theo and Danielle, with scenes set to air later this year.

A defining soap of its time, Brookside ran for 21 years from November 1982 right through to 2003, taking fans on various dramatic journeys in its time.

As well as tackling a whole host of notable storylines – domestic abuse, murder and sexuality among them – it was of course home to plenty of notable characters, not least Bev Dixon.

If you cast your mind back, Bev was incredibly outspoken and caught up in matters of the heart of her own, starting up a relationship with married man Ron (Vince Earl) and then going on to have an affair with his son Mike (Paul Byatt).

Well, it looks as though White is taking on a little less of a dramatic role in her return to the world of soaps, with details about her character remaining under wraps for now.

According to The Sun, White is currently filming her scenes, which will air later this year, so we'll just have to keep our eyes peeled.

Since her impressive stint on Brookside, White has starred in God's Own Country and Moving On, but her new role in Coronation Street marks a return to the land of the soap opera.

White isn't the only familiar Brookside face to grace Weatherfield, though, with Suzanne Collins having appeared on the soap earlier this year as part of a nursery worker storyline involving Abi Webster (Sally Carman-Duttine).

As for what the future holds for Theo and Danielle, we can only hope that White's new character helps them come to a good resolution when it comes to their divorce.

Earlier this year, viewers saw Theo grapple with his feelings for Danielle and Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce). But things came to a dramatic head when Danielle caught the pair kissing in Underworld, spurring on the calls for a divorce.

As part of the storyline, Coronation Street also shone a light on the issue of conversion therapy, a harrowing practice that sees LGBTQ+ people tortured into renouncing their sexuality.

Revealing his family's own strong religious beliefs, Theo also explained that his faith had turned against him and subjected him to the horrors of conversion therapy.

Speaking about tackling such important subject matter, actor Cartwright previously told RadioTimes.com at the British Soap Awards 2025: "The idea that Corrie even have a crack at that, I think, is a really cool thing. I'm very proud and privileged and honoured to be on the Street, full stop.

"I didn't know conversion therapy [was] even a thing. I mean, my version of that was a sort of American. So, it's a real thing, and it's very bad.

"And you don't choose your sexuality in any way more than you choose your hair colour, your eye colour and your height, it's ridiculous."
