Our Score
This remake of 2003 French film Nathalie... is one of art house favourite Atom Egoyan's most mainstream movies. It has a starry cast, a twisty plot that clearly takes its inspiration from Alfred Hitchcock and is always fun to watch, even if it does ultimately stretch credibility beyond breaking point. Julianne Moore plays a middle-aged doctor who suspects (without much evidence) that her lecturer husband Liam Neeson is having an affair. She hires high-class prostitute Amanda Seyfried to pose as a student and test his fidelity. It seems a risky strategy, but so far, so good. Seyfried reports back that Neeson took the bait and provides Moore with a blow-by-blow account. Moore feels left out and wants in on the action. It seems no one can keep their passions or emotions in check and the whole thing becomes more than a little overwrought as it moves towards the climax, but the story is always involving and the production is handsomely mounted on attractive, wintry locations in Toronto.

An academic begins to suspect her husband is cheating on her, so decides to put his fidelity to the test. She hires a prostitute to try to seduce him over a series of encounters, and then report back. As the prostitute's feedback grows more and more elaborate, the wife's suspicions spiral out of control. Thriller, starring Julianne Moore, Liam Neeson and Amanda Seyfried.
