Stratton

Simon West once directed the very excellent Con Air. Sadly, this humdrum action yarn, in which elite commando Dominic Cooper tries to thwart a bizarre terrorist attempt to bio-bomb London, via double-decker bus and drone, isn't remotely in the same league. The plot is hackneyed, the action merely adequate - and one feels truly sorry for Danish support star Connie Nielsen, who is saddled with not only the duffest of the film's duff dialogue, but also with an English accent that might most kindly be described as "unconvincing". One or two passable stunts, plus a definite hoot factor, stagger Stratton into barely adequate territory. But, truth be told, this is the sort of film that, 30 years ago, would have gone speedily to VHS, and which should quickly suffer the equivalent fate today.
