Our Score
A high-school jock discovers his inner werewolf and heads off to find his roots in a coming-of-age horror that has its moments. Lucas Till (Havoc in X-Men: First Class) plays the tortured teen who goes on the run (after apparently eating his parents) and ends up in a backwoods town where age-old lycanthrope dynasties struggle to get along. Debuting director David Hayter (scriptwriter on Watchmen and two X-Men flicks) does a decent job of keeping the action pacey by thankfully avoiding too much Twilight-style navel-gazing. He also prizes charismatic turns out of Stephen McHattie (as a sage, old farmer) and Aquaman star Jason Momoa (as the leader of a pack of hillbilly howlers), who play good wolf/bad wolf to the confused Till. But with the makers of TV shows like True Blood, Penny Dreadful and The Walking Dead having no qualms about 18-certificate content, there aren't enough scary bits or gore here to sate the hardened horror-hound.

A teenager discovers to his horror that he is a werewolf, and flees for his life after his first transformation has terrible consequences. He makes his way to a remote town that provides a safe haven for the creatures, but his new home proves dangerous when a deadly rivalry develops with the pack leader. Horror, starring Lucas Till, Stephen McHattie and Jason Momoa.
