Your favourite TV double act?

Does it have to be people who are always together? Because for me it’s James Gandolfini and Edie Falco in The Sopranos. The most extraordinary development of an on-screen marriage I have ever seen.

What made your on-screen marriage to Andrew Buchan work so well?

He’s one of the best actors I’ve ever worked with. He just nailed every scene and I had to try to match him. Then in between every take, he was hilarious! He’s my ideal partner – he works his arse off but doesn’t take himself too seriously.

Why should Broadchurch win RT's Audience Award?

A lot of blood, sweat and tears were shed to make the series as good as it could be, so for people to respond to it in the way they did was a huge compliment to all of us.

British Academy Television Awards are on Sunday 18 May at 8:00pm on BBC1.
