The Coen Brothers are heading back to the 1960s in their new film Inside Llewyn Davis.

The film, which stars Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, Justin Timberlake and John Goodman, tells the story of a young singer-songwriter’s attempts to break into the 1960s Greenwich Village folk scene in New York.

Judging from the trailer, Davis (Isaac) is a kind-hearted, slightly eccentric bohemian whose pursuit of folk stardom puts him into conflict with a legion of belligerent music promoters, angry lovers and rival artists.

Adapted from Dave Van Ronk's account of the American music scene in the ‘50s and ‘60s, The Mayor Of MacDougal Street, and featuring music from T-Bone Burnett, Inside Llewyn Davis looks like it’ll be a more than worthy addition to the Coens’ glittering filmography.

Inside Llewyn Davis is due to be released on Friday 8 February.
