All Creatures Great and Small star in first look at all-new thriller series The Rumour
Rachel Shenton stars in 5's adaptation of the hit novel.

5 has dropped a first look at its upcoming thriller The Rumour, which stars All Creatures Great and Small star Rachel Shenton as a mother caught up in a storm of suspicion and paranoia.
Joanna (Shenton) moves to the small town of Flinstead in search of a peaceful life for herself and her young son, Alfie, but it isn't long before a more "sinister" side of the community reveals itself.
The synopsis, courtesy of 5, reads: "When she discovers a chilling rumour about a convicted child killer hiding in plain sight, Joanna seizes the chance to bond with the local mums by sharing it - unknowingly unleashing a wave of paranoia and suspicion.
"As whispers grow louder and tensions rise, Joanna is swept into a dangerous spiral of secrets and blame. With trust eroding and fear spreading like wildfire, she begins to question not only the town's past but her own instincts."

It concludes by asking: "Who can she trust? And what will it cost her to find the truth?"
The principal cast of The Rumour includes Joanne Whalley (Wolf Hall), Emily Atack (Rivals), Samuel Anderson (Amandaland), Ellie Haddington (Enola Holmes), Lucy Speed (Unforgotten), Liza Sadovy (A Real Pain) and Carryl Thomas (Silo).

The series is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Lesley Kara, which has been adapted for the screen by Giula Sandler (who previously penned 5's The House Across the Street, starring Shirley Henderson).
Meanwhile, Richard Clark takes on directing duties, having made a name for himself during the first Russell T Davies era of Doctor Who, where he helmed such classic episodes as Gridlock, The Lazarus Experiment and The Doctor's Wife.

The Rumour does not yet have a confirmed premiere date, but will be part of 5's autumn line-up.
Shenton is also set to reprise her role in All Creatures Great and Small season 6, although she may have a reduced role in the next set of episodes after taking a break from filming to care for her newborn baby.
The Rumour is coming soon to 5.
