Meet DI Greg Lestrade Scotland Yard detective Greg Lestrade is one of three people identified by James Moriarty as a friend of Sherlock’s. He’s also one of the few officers who seem to be able to put up with Sherlock’s arrogance and distrust of the police (even though Sherlock generally pretends not to remember his first name) and he’s often to be found hanging around 221B Baker Street looking for help in one of his cases.

What else has Rupert Graves been in? After a stint as a circus clown (yes, really), Rupert Graves carved out a niche for himself in British period drama films of the Merchant Ivory stripe, with roles in A Room With A View, Maurice, A Handful of Dust and The Madness of King George.

He played Young Jolyon Forsyte in ITV’s 2002 revival of The Forsyte Saga, starring Damian Lewis, and appeared with Martin Freeman in the BBC Restoration romp Charles II: The Power and the Passion. His many other screen credits include Scott & Bailey, The White Queen, Garrow’s Law and Doctor Who, in which he played big game hunter John Riddell in the Matt Smith episode Dinosaurs on a Spaceship.
