Whether you take to this fluffy crime comedy drama will largely depend on how resistant you are to its lead, Jerry O’Connell. He plays Harley Carter, a big TV star who’s now back in his small home town and bringing his actorly ways to crime solving. He’s by turns intensely vain and irritating yet insightful, and somehow always cracks the case.
As the second series opens, Carter’s now a licensed PI, and hoping to grab his first case – his client is played by Colin Mochrie (a familiar face from Whose Line Is It Anyway?). But he’s also struggling with dodgy dreams about his old friend Sam; and there’s a new police chief in town, who’s entirely immune to Carter’s shtick.
