After a six-week stand-off with the Branch Davidians, the FBI’s patience finally snaps. It’s time to bring this thing to a close. Negotiator Gary Noesner is sent packing and the ATF – Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms – prepares an assault.
What happened next remains a terrible and enduring stain on American history and it’s brilliantly realised in a superior dramatisation that quite firmly and unashamedly sides with the Branch Davidians.
But it’s no whitewash – their leader, narcissistic monomaniac David Koresh, wastes valuable time spending days committing his treatise on the Seven Seals to paper (“This is gonna be the most sacred revelation in human history!”) as the tanks start rolling in. The destruction is deadly.
