Episode 4: Of Milk and Men

Summary

Negotiations intensify as the Branch Davidians refuse to surrender. As David Koresh (Taylor Kitsch) waits for a sign from God, the lack of food and medical treatment tests both the Davidians' faith and law enforcement's patience.

Review

The FBI is growing itchy and irritated as the stand-off with the Branch Davidians at their Waco compound drags on. The bureau wants action, it wants to give the occupants something to think about. Tension is already escalating as they send in tanks and park them directly in front of the building, guns pointing right at the believers.

The inexorable sense that something very bad is just about to happen is built up brilliantly in this dramatised account of the disastrous 1994 siege. As helicopters clatter in the skies and FBI officers taunt the Davidians, hostage negotiator Gary Noesner (Michael Shannon), one of the good guys, feels the situation slipping away from him.
