A mummified cat from Kettering; a video that Rhod Gilbert filmed of Greg Davies asleep; some Victorian Christmas cards: these are a few of the panel’s creepiest things, brought in for this week’s prize task. In order to win them, the panellists have to endure creative indignities that include poking things out of a grotto and writing a piece of music on the spot.
Gilbert is on great form (his Ballad of a Toothless Goon is a strange little folk tale set to music), and we’re reminded again that this is his natural game – tooling around for laughs – rather than the confines of The Apprentice: You’re Fired. In that show he hardly ever gets to take other people’s trousers down, which is a particular talent.
