Medical sitcom about the unseen world of hospitals, following a wannabe doctor who starts work as a porter.
When it comes to black comedy, you can’t do things by halves. If you’re going to push things into brutal, shocking territory, you have to really go for it, which is why this sitcom about the porters at an NHS hospital can get a bit frustrating. Moments of great, edgy, “should I be laughing at this?” medical, political (and smutty) jokes are held back by patchier, more obvious humour, which fall flat. Nonetheless, it’s entertaining enough, with a great turn from Sanjeev Bhaskar as a haphazard surgeon.
In this episode, the porters learn a lesson about karma, when they find a dead patient’s winning lottery ticket, and one of them finds himself coerced into donating a kidney to a sexist teenager to impress a nurse.
