Ron's Gone Wrong

The debut feature from British studio Locksmith Animation is a joyful celebration of the imperfections that make us who we are. Barney (voiced by Jack Dylan Grazer) is a social outcast at school, being the only kid who doesn't own the latest must-have gadget, the B-Bot. His widower father manages to lay his hands on one for Barney's birthday, but it's clear from the unboxing that the droid is defective. Zach Galifianakis voices the comical robo reject, named Ron, whose off-grid antics generate plenty of laughs, along with Olivia Colman's outrageous vocal turn as Barney's Polish granny. The value of friendship lies at the heart of the story, but Peter Baynam and Sarah Smith's script also gets in some sly digs at Big Tech profiteering and surveillance culture. While it may not touch the soul like the best of Pixar, Ron Goes Wrong charms with its warmth, wit and touching buddy relationship, and is guaranteed to have every child wanting a cute B-Bot of their very own.
