Things have been getting increasingly complicated in the Dales with Kim Tate (Claire King) and her new love interest Eddie, aka Doctor Crowley (James Hillier).

Well, it's a good thing then that actress Claire King isn't going anywhere anytime soon so we can see the outcome of the recent storyline. It's been reported by The Sun that King has now signed a new contract that will see her remain on the soap for another year.

ITV declined to comment when approached by RadioTimes.com.

Having played the role of Kim since 1989 on and off, King made her major return back in 2018 and has been a fixture on the series since.

More recently, Kim has been going through her own fair share of personal problems, with the loss of her husband Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) back last Christmas. Since then, she's been scheming away against Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) and now, finds herself in a new romance with an enigmatic figure.

Recent episodes revealed that although Kim knows him as Eddie, he's actually none other than the very same man who performed Joe's illegal kidney transplant and went on to blackmail Joe. Not only that, but Doctor Crowley also hold Joe hostage and bled his bank account dry.

So, with King not going anywhere anytime soon, we can certainly anticipate a lot more to come in this storyline. Will she end up playing Doctor Crowley at his own game? Only time will tell.

Sources told The Sun of King's contract renewal: “Kim Tate is one of the soap all time greats and it’s only right that she has a massive storyline. It’s going to delve into who Kim is and where she’s come from and see her rediscover that grit that made her Kim Tate.

“She’s going to stop at nothing to get what she wants - and make a few more enemies in the process as well as potentially changing the village forever."

The actress did more recently reveal what lies ahead for Kim and her new love interest, though, telling RadioTimes.com and other press: "Everything's set in place that it's nice [for Kim], but of course it's placed there by 'Eddie' himself, who isn't who he says he is!

"He's very nasty and he'll go to any lengths to get her money, and he kind of does."

When quizzed as to whether Crowley should watch his back, she said that "the minute Kim finds out, it'll be more than his back he needs to watch, and I mean that!"

"There's always a twist," King teased. "It all comes out in the wash and there's a very nasty twist!"
