Fans of The Clone Wars are about to have a new obsession.
Star Wars fans are gearing up for the much-anticipated launch of The Bad Batch, the latest animated series from Lucasfilm that takes place in the dark days after the fall of the Republic.
The show follows Clone Force 99, a unique squad of genetically enhanced troopers, each with a unique ability that makes them ruthlessly effective combatants.
The show will premiere its first episode on Disney Plus on Star Wars Day, before shifting to the weekly release model that made The Mandalorian such a hot topic on social media.

When is Star Wars: The Bad Batch released on Disney Plus?
Disney Plus has confirmed that Star Wars: The Bad Batch will debut with a 70-minute special episode on Tuesday, 4th May 2021. If you're wondering why the date is ringing a bell, well, it's Star Wars Day! Perfect timing – we see what you did there, Disney.

As with The Mandalorian, the episodes will not all be available in one go, with episode two arriving on Friday 7th May and (reportedly) another 12 instalments landing on a weekly basis thereafter.

In April 2021, Disney released a second poster for the series that shows the full team assembled – including young new recruit, Omega – under the fearsome shadow of Emperor Palpatine.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch cast
Dee Bradley Baker will return to voice the members of The Bad Batch, having also voiced the entire clone army in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Captain Rex in some episodes of Rebels.
It has also been announced that The Mandalorian star Ming-Na Wen will reprise her role as Fennec Shand in the series, which will offer insight into her earlier years.
Meanwhile, Andrew Kishino will lend his voice to Saw Gerrera, the revolutionary first introduced in The Clone Wars and later played by Forest Whitaker in 2016's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Another returning voice to The Bad Batch cast is Stephen Stanton as the villainous Grand Moff Tarkin, who has previously portrayed the iconic Peter Cushing character in both The Clone Wars and Rebels.

A full trailer for Star Wars: The Bad Batch was released on Tuesday 30th March, teasing what is to come in the series – including a couple of familiar faces.
Prior to that, Disney had revealed a first look at the upcoming series during their annual investor call, which showcases the galactic action in store.
