While most fans will still have to wait until 12th December to see the latest Knives Out mystery, Wake Up Dead Man, it has now been confirmed that the film will premiere at a film festival two months early.

The new film, which is once again directed by Rian Johnson and stars Daniel Craig, will premiere at the Opening Night Gala for the 69th BFI London Film Festival, which will run from 8th to 19th October.

This means that the film will be shown at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall on Wednesday 8th October, and tickets will go on sale from 16th September, with BFI Members getting to book early.

This isn't the first time a Knives Out mystery has played at the festival. Glass Onion closed out the 66th BFI London Film Festival back in 2022, while Knives Out itself premiered as the 63rd Festival’s AMEX Gala in 2019.

Johnson said in a statement: "We’re honoured to be opening the BFI London Film Festival with Wake Up Dead Man. London is the birthplace of the golden age of detective fiction and it's a thrill to be back!"

Meanwhile, Kristy Matheson, BFI London Film Festival Director, said: "At this 69th edition of the BFI London Film Festival we are inviting audiences to get their spyglass at the ready as we get back on the case with another deliciously fun mystery from director Rian Johnson and his all-star cast with Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.

"Led by Daniel Craig and Josh O’Connor, the film features incredible British and international talent on and off screen who bring a sense of play and verve to the screen, to craft a film that twists, turns and will keep audiences guessing to the final frame.
