Almost four years after the second season of The Capture debuted, the hit techno-thriller is almost back - and now, we know exactly when it will be on our screens.

It has been confirmed that the first episode of The Capture season 3 will launch on BBC iPlayer at 6am on Sunday 8 March, before airing on BBC One at 9pm that evening.

Rather than all the episodes being made available at once on iPlayer, each new instalment will then arrive weekly on Sundays - meaning the finale is expected to air on Sunday 12 April.

This news was confirmed alongside the release of a full length trailer, which you can watch now below.

The trailer sets up the stakes for this new season, with plenty of shoot outs, explosions, reports of deepfakes AKA correction and real terror in the eyes of Rachel Carey, played by Holliday Grainger.

She is seen launching a new programme, called Operation Veritas - a smart surveillance camera which can detect cyber attacks and deepfakes in real time.

However, when a shooting takes place, and Correction appears to be affecting footage of the gunman, Carey has to consider whether she can believe what she saw with her own eyes.

The trailer also introduces us to Joe Dempsie, Hugh Quarshie, Linus Roache and Amanda Drew's new characters, while reuniting us with returning stars including Paapa Essiedu, Indira Varma, Ben Miles, Lia Williams, Ginny Holder, Nigel Lindsay and Ron Perlman.

Also joining the series, but not yet seen in the footage, are Killian Scott and Andrew Buchan.

Creator Ben Chanan is once again behind this new season, which picks up 12 months after the huge ending to season 2, which saw Rachel expose the practice of Correction to the world.

The Capture season 3 will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from Sunday 8 March 2026.
