Adolescence writer's Lord of the Flies series finally gets release date confirmed with first-look trailer
The eerie trailer introduces us to Ralph, Jack, Piggy and Simon.

Almost three years after it was first announced, the BBC has finally revealed when its four-part adaptation of Lord of the Flies will air on BBC One, while also unveiling a first-look trailer.
The series will officially debut on BBC iPlayer from 6am on Sunday 8th February, with episodes then also airing on BBC One weekly on Sundays, starting at 9pm that night.
The series comes from Adolescence co-creator Jack Thorne along with Help director Marc Munden, and will feature an ensemble cast of over 30 boys, many making their professional acting debuts.
We are introduced to many of them in the dark, atmospheric trailer, including Winston Sawyers as Ralph, Lox Pratt as Jack, David McKenna as Piggy and Ike Talbut as Simon.

The trailer is soundtracked by an eerie score, with a combination of composer working on the series. Composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer (The White Lotus) has provided the score, while Hans Zimmer (Dune) and Kara Talve (Tattooist of Auschwitz) of Bleeding Fingers Music have created the show's main theme and additional music.
Based on William Golding's book, the series tells the story of schoolboys stranded on a tropical island with no adults, following a deadly plane crash.
"In an attempt to remain civil they organise themselves, led by Ralph and supported by the group’s intellectual, Piggy," the synopsis says.
"But when Jack becomes more interested in hunting and vying for leadership, he soon begins to draw other boys away from the group and, ultimately, from hope to tragedy."

Each of the four episodes is titled after a character at the core of the story – Ralph, Piggy, Simon, and Jack – each offering a subtly different perspective on the situation.
Other cast members playing key roles in the series include Thomas Connor as Roger, Noah and Cassius Flemming as twins Sam and Eric, Cornelius Brandreth as Maurice and Tom Page-Turner as Bill.
Lord of the Flies will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
