Danny Dyer teases Rivals season 2 with good news for Freddie and Lizzie fans
Freddie and Lizzie's forbidden slow-burning romance stole fans' hearts in Rivals season 1 – and there's more to come when the show returns.

Danny Dyer has teased that there's more to come for forbidden lovers Freddie and Lizzie in Rivals season 2 – with their romance set to pick up a notch.
During the first season of the Jilly Cooper 'bonkbuster' series, viewers fell in love with Dyer's working-class-turned-middle-class electronics entrepreneur Freddie, who found himself drawn to married Lizzie Vereker (Katherine Parkinson) within the Cotswolds social group.
Despite also being married himself to social climber Valerie (Lisa McGrillis), Freddie and Lizzie's romantic tension continued to grow, before they gave into their feelings in the season finale and they stowed away for a "frolic" in the garden.
With their future now open to possibilities, fans are desperate to know what happens to the couple – and speaking to Radio Times magazine, Dyer promises to deliver during season 2.

"I can’t reveal much," he told us, "but what I will say is that we’ve got no issues with the old second album syndrome.
"I’ve been blessed with a lovely character. He’s not the lead and he doesn’t need to be the lead, same as Katherine.
"And yes, we do get a bit more Freddie and Lizzie this time around."
Rivals, which follows the life of a group of randy television execs and their middle-class social circle in the fictional county of Rutshire during the '80s, became a smash hit for Disney+ upon its release in 2024.
The second season, which is slated for release in 2026, is currently being filmed in Bristol, and will pick up with the group as they are divided between two rival stations.

Alongside Dyer and Parkinson, returning stars include David Tennant, Alex Hassell, Aidan Turner, Emily Atack and Bella Maclean.
However, before Rivals returns to our screens, Dyer will next be seen as Lee in Sky smash-hit Mr Bigstuff – a role that bagged him his first ever BAFTA Award earlier this year.
When new episodes drop on 24th July, Lee and brother Glen (played by Ryan Sampson) will find themselves having to join forces to track down their dad, who they discovered at the end of season 1 had faked his death and moved abroad.
