Good things come to those who wait: Lucifer season four’s release date has been confirmed with the help of a hot new trailer featuring Tom Ellis.
The devilishly handsome star appears in a new video teasing the upcoming episodes on Netflix.
The footage sees Ellis emerging bare-chested from a swimming pool, picking up a glass of whisky and taking a healthy swig.
“He is risen,” the video declares, revealing that Lucifer season four will be available to stream from Wednesday 8th May 2019.
For fans thirsty for news, the announcement couldn’t come at a better time. As the tweet says, as of 10th April 2019 at 2pm UK time, there are just 666 hours to go until the show returns.
The date also means the new episodes will stream almost exactly one year on from the day the show was first cancelled.
Ellis tweeted on 11th May last year “with great sadness” to confirm rumours that Lucifer had been cancelled.
However, Lucifer fans responded to news of the cancellation by mounting an incredible campaign to save the show.
Netflix announced that it had picked up the series in June 2018.
Series star Tom Ellis had previously told RadioTimes.com how the fan campaign had motivated him to work to revive the series, saying, “The outpouring of love for the show has mirrored how I’ve felt about it. The response has spurred me on to at least go, ‘OK, well I’m going to go and take part in these conversations’.”

It looks as though we will be seeing plenty ‘more’ of star Ellis this season: a previous teaser featured the star stripping down and teasing a “very juicy” scene with his co-stars.
