Robin Wright and Olivia Cooke lead Prime Video's latest British thriller, which sees the life of an affluent London-based woman thrown into disarray by her son's new girlfriend.

The mystery at the centre of The Girlfriend revolves around whether Laura (Wright) is correct to mistrust Cherry (Cooke), or if her animosity stems from mere jealousy and classism.

The six-part series is an intriguing and, at times, darkly comic watch, with stellar performances from Wright and Cooke, plus some rather delirious twists.

It follows last month's The Assassin, starring Keeley Hawes and Freddie Highmore, which followed a former hitwoman who reconnects with her estranged son at a most inopportune moment – while on the run over a deadly conspiracy.
