BAFTA Film Awards 2026 reveals longlist: One Battle After Another, Sinners on top
Hamnet and Marty Supreme are also in contention for a host of nominations.

The 2026 awards season is now in full swing, and while we're still more than a month away from The BAFTA Film Awards, the longlist contenders for this year have been revealed.
Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another is currently the film in contention to receive the most nominations, having been longlisted in 16 categories. Meanwhile, Sinners and Hamnet are both up for 14, while Marty Supreme is up for 13.
Other films with a high number of appearances on the longlist include Yorgos Lanthimos's Bugonia and Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein, both in 12 categories.
All of these aforementioned releases are currently up for Best Film, along with The Ballad of Wallis Island, I Swear, Nuremberg and Sentimental Value.

Among those mentioned in the leading acting categories are Jessie Buckley for Hamnet, Rose Byrne for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Cynthia Erivo for Wicked: For Good, Kate Hudson for Song Sung Blue, Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another, Joel Edgerton for Train Dreams, Ethan Hawke for Blue Moon and Cillian Murphy for Steve, in addition to a number of others.
In the supporting acting categories, those on the longlist include Brenda Blethyn for Dragonfly, Ariana Grande for Wicked: For Good, Amy Madigan for Weapons, Carey Mulligan for The Ballad of Wallis Island, Benicio Del Toro and Sean Penn for One Battle After Another, Jacob Elordi for Frankenstein, Delroy Lindo for Sinners and Adam Sandler for Jay Kelly.
Meanwhile, the directors on the longlist include Lanthimos, Anderson, Lynne Ramsay for Die My Love, Chloé Zhao for Hamnet, Kathryn Bigelow for A House of Dynamite, Josh Safdie for Marty Supreme, Hikari for Rental Family, Joachim Trier for Sentimental Value, Ryan Coogler for Sinners and Kaouther Ben Hania for The Voice of Hind Rajab.

The final shortlist of nominations for the awards will be unveiled on Tuesday 27th January, just under a month before the ceremony takes place at London’s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday 22nd February.
This year's ceremony will be hosted by Alan Cumming, who last year hosted BAFTA's TV Awards.
