Marcus Dent (Charlie Condou) is to exit Coronation Street next week after he realises that boyfriend Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) has been playing him for a fool.
Warning bells will start to ring after Sean (Antony Cotton) reveals that Todd has had another man staying over behind Marcus's back. Todd tries to soft soap Marcus by insisting that the guy was a friend who stayed on the sofa, but it looks like the hoodwinked midwife is starting to see the real Todd.
The real catalyst for Marcus's departure though is when he catches Todd in the arms of the other man. With the scales having fallen from his eyes, Marcus confides in Maria (Samia Ghadie) that maybe the time has come to leave Weatherfield.
Marcus and Maria agree to part as friends before he leaves the street for good during scenes to be shown on Monday 14 July.
After announcing back in November last year that he was set to leave the ITV soap, Condou said: “I've had a fantastic time at Corrie but feel it's time for me to move on. I was only meant to return for three months and ended up staying for three years! The producers have been really supportive and are leaving the door open for Marcus, which is great."
