A fresh new twist is about to change everything for Joe Tate's (Ned Porteous) blackmail ordeal in Thursday's (17th July 2025) edition of Emmerdale.

Joe has been coerced into conning step-grandmother Kim Tate (Claire King) out of her wealth by her new beau, his dodgy doctor associate Crowley (James Hillier).

Failure to comply would lead to Joe going down for his many crimes, but an attempt to get Kim to invest in a bogus company fell totally flat.

In a covert meeting with Joe during Wednesday's (16th July) outing of Emmerdale, Crowley and sidekick Shaun (James Boyland) revealed their Plan B.

Joe must drug Kim, allowing her to be manipulated into giving up her account details.

As Crowley handed over enough drugs "to take down a bull", Joe's unease increased, but what will his next move be?

You'll have to watch the episode on ITVX to find out, otherwise you can catch it at 7:30pm on ITV1.

But it's safe to say, the whole thing comes to a very dramatic head over the course of the hour-long edition.

Kim star King has already confirmed that it won't take long for the scales to fall from her alter ego's eyes.

"When she finds out who he is, it's all very embarrassing," she told RadioTimes.com and other media.

But the actress added: "The minute Kim finds out, it'll be more than his back he needs to watch, and I mean that!"

"There's always a twist," King teased. "It all comes out in the wash and there's a very nasty twist!"

Will Crowley be defeated?

And what will become of Joe, whose fate depends on this tense situation?

Well, for those wishing to dive into what's next for Kim and Joe beyond Crowley's plotting, you can read the latest spoilers now.
