Rick and Morty season 8 has come to an end with a finale that we won't be forgetting anytime soon.
But already, fans are wondering: when will we see a season 9 – and will it be anytime soon? Or has the show been cancelled?
This wacky sci-fi comedy follows Rick Sanchez, a grouchy and eccentric mad scientist who would rather hit you in the face than talk to you.
He's joined by his anxious grandson, Morty Smith, and together, the two often go on wacky, intergalactic adventures that leave chaos in their wake.
Last year, Adult Swim renewed Rick and Morty for a handful of future seasons, keeping it on the air until season 12 at the very least. So we know that there will be a season 9 coming.

Rick and Morty season 9 release date speculation
While there has been no confirmation on the release date for Rick and Morty season 9, we can roughly guess when we think season 9 will be happening.
After all, we know from creator Dan Harmon that the upcoming season was being written even before season 7 had aired.
"We're writing season 9, we had way too much quality work down the pipe that I would have never let go away," Harmon told Radio Times after fears of cancellation surfaced. "Because I'm so proud of what people even get to see in season 7."
With this in mind, we estimate that we'll see Rick and Morty return sometime in late 2026 or early 2027.
Last season was marred by heavy delays due to the WGA strike, but unless something similar occurs, we're confident that fans of the show won't have to wait as long this time around.
Who will return in Rick and Morty season 9?
It's expected that the main cost will return for season 9, which of course includes Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden as Rick and Morty.
Although we don't have any confirmed details, we also expect the series to feature several guest stars.
