Along with Percy Hynes-White's exit as Xavier Thorpe, Lurch has been recast for season 2.

Lurch is the Addams Family butler, known for his towering stature and gloomy presence. While he's a man of very few words, he can make his feelings known with just a facial expression.

For season 2, Lurch will be played by an actor known for an incredibly famous role - although you might not know it just to look at him. Here's everything we know about the recasting of the character.

Why was Lurch recast for Wednesday season 2?

George Burcea played Lurch in season 1 but decided not to return for season 2.

According to various sources, the actor said on Instagram that he was exiting the show for "personal reasons".

Who plays Lurch in Wednesday season 2?

In season 2, Lurch is played by Finnish actor and former basketball player Joonas Suotamo.

Suotamo is best known for playing Chewbacca in the Star Wars saga, taking over from Peter Mayhew from The Force Awakens onwards. He also returned to Star Wars to play Kelnacca in The Acolyte last year.

Outside of Star Wars, Suotamo played The Scourge in Willow.

How tall is Lurch actor Joonas Suotamo?

Suotamo is 6 foot 11, making season 2's Lurch a lot taller than season 1's. Burcea, who previously took on the role, is 6 foot 3.
