There's only a few more months until we head back to the fantastical world of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, with the show's second season confirmed to be arriving before Christmas in a spectacular teaser trailer.

The series is based on the beloved young adult novels by Rick Riordan, which follow the adventures of demigod Percy (Walker Scobell) as he learns of his heritage among the pantheon of mythological Greek gods.

The Disney+ hit is the second attempt at a live-action adaptation, and has so far been considered a vast upgrade on Fox's underwhelming feature films from the early 2010s.

Fittingly, season 2 moves on to the second novel in Riordan's series, The Sea of Monsters, with this trailer giving us a glimpse at the formidable challenges that await Percy, as well as close friends Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) and Grover (Aryan Simhadri).

Check out the trailer here and mark your calendars for Wednesday 10th December 2025, when Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 will premiere on Disney+.

The synopsis for season 2, courtesy of Disney+, reads: "Percy Jackson returns to Camp Half-Blood one year later to find his world turned upside down.

"His friendship with Annabeth is changing, he learns he has a cyclops for a brother, Grover has gone missing, and camp is under siege from the forces of Kronos.

"Percy's journey to set things right will take him off the map and into the deadly Sea of Monsters, where a secret fate awaits the son of Poseidon."

This trailer confirms the return of major stars Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jason Mantzoukas, who play Hermes and Dionysus respectively, while also unveiling our first look at Percy's cyclops brother Tyson (played by Under the Bridge's Daniel Diemer).

Facing a similar challenge to the forthcoming Harry Potter series – that being a rapidly ageing young cast – Percy Jackson and the Olympians has already been renewed for a third season, which will adapt The Titan's Curse.

The third entry in Riordan's best-selling series has never been adapted to live action before, so that should prove to be a particularly exciting proposition for avid readers of the Percy Jackson books.

Percy Jackson and the Olympian season 2 premieres on Disney+ on Wednesday 10th December 2025.
