Outlander season 8 releases "emotional" first-look trailer for final episodes with Claire and Jamie
Prepare for battle – and an emotional farewell.

Fans of Outlander have slowly been trying to prepare for the end of the beloved historical drama for some time now, but the dawn of the final season is almost upon us – and now, we have an emotional trailer that only notches up the excitement for what's to come.
With the release date of March having been previously confirmed last year, this trailer gives us a proper look at what's to come and boy, does it look like it's set to break our hearts.
While season 7 saw the dawn of the American Revolution and Claire (Caitríona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) having to make some drastic decisions, things left on quite the dramatic cliffhanger as they were left questioning whether their first child Faith had actually lived after hearing Fanny sing the same song (from a different time period) that Claire used to.
As well as picking up on that major storyline, the trailer transports us back to what makes the series such a fan-favourite and that's by plummeting us once more into the centre of Claire and Jamie's love story.
"I have everything I never knew I wanted," Claire tells Jamie in bed, "I hope you've had everything you've had everything you wanted."

We then see them sitting down in a forest with Fanny, holding a locket with Faith's name on it, and all seems right in the world. Continuing on in the same positive vein, we see Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Roger (Richard Rankin) enjoying some time together, after the tumultuous events of the past season.
Brianna's bringing back of the book The Soul of a Rebel by Frank Randall also has repercussions for Jamie, who picks it up and reads it, only to find out that details from the war that are set to unfold. But in another twist, Jamie tells Claire that in the book, it says that he dies.
The war is coming and Jamie feels compelled to get involved once again, but Claire urges him not to. Will it be his undoing?

It's safe to say that the trailer alone will probably bring a tear to many fans' eyes, not least because it looks as though the war continues to get bloodier, the stakes ever higher, and there will be plenty of heart-wrenching Jamie and Claire moments to be had.
The official season 8 synopsis reads: "As season 8 begins, Jamie and Claire soon find the war has followed them home to Fraser’s Ridge, now a thriving settlement that has grown and flourished in their absence.
"With new arrivals and changes made during their years away, the Frasers are confronted with the question of what they are willing to sacrifice for the place they call home and, more importantly, what they would sacrifice to stay together."
