Layton Williams, who is known for his roles in Bad Education, West End show Cabaret and for competing in Strictly Come Dancing, will be joining Em Carey and co in a new role.

He will be starring as Onassis, who becomes part of Harriet Manners's awkward world of modelling and juggling school work.

Currently, little is known about his role, but filming has now officially commenced in London, with new photos of the cast's first readthrough being shared by the team.

Carey – who plays school-nerd-turned-supermodel Harriet – was seen in a dogtooth suit and shaved blonde hair as they posed with their thumbs up next to co-star Liam Woodrum.

Little is currently known about the upcoming season of Geek Girl, which is based on the smash-hit young adult novel by Holly Smale.

After a high school trip to London Fashion Week turned the socially awkward Harriet's life upside down, we've already seen her struggle to battle with romance, modelling frenemies, and how cutthroat the industry can be.

Despite this, Harriet ended the first season with a newfound sense of confidence, which was aided by fellow model Nick Park (Woodrum), her agent Wilbur Evans (Emmanuel Imani) and her supportive parents.

Expect more drama for poor Harriet in season 2, as the world of modelling becomes increasingly demanding for her – as does the school work she loves so much.

But if it's anything like the first, at least she'll be able to tackle it with a killer soundtrack while she goes!

Geek Girl season 1 is available to watch on Netflix.
