Cold Feet and Gentleman Jack stars cast in new Channel 4 break-up comedy as first look unveiled
Break Clause stars Samuel Bottomley and Lara Ricote.

A set of first-look images have been released for new Channel 4 comedy series Break Clause, which stars Samuel Bottomley (How to Have Sex) and Lara Ricote (Mitchell And Webb Are Not Helping), while new cast members have also been confirmed.
Bottomley's character Ben and Ricote's character Lil are both seen embracing as a couple in the images, but the series is set to chart a less romantic part of their lives - the end of their relationship.
The synopsis for the six-part series reads: "Their relationship's over. Their tenancy isn't. Break Clause follows Ben and Lil as they navigate their breakup whilst stuck in the same flat. Moving on from your first love is hard enough. Moving out is even harder..."
Also starring in the series and seen in the images are John Thomson (Cold Feet) as Alan, Lucy Black (Gentleman Jack) as Deb, Catherine Cohen (Sentimental Value) as Jos, Charly Clive (Rooster) as Frances, Nathan Foad (Our Flag Means Death) as Owen and Assa Kanouté (Boarders) as Kira and Jack Shep (Saturday Night Live UK) as Liam.

Tamika Bennett and Jack James Ryan (I Fought the Law) are also featured in the images as their characters Nic and Jordan, while Hammed Animashaun (Black Ops), Michael Workéyè (Lynley), Jessica Knappett (Ghosts) and Lucas Jones (Get Millie Black) also star as Paul, Kas, the Vicar and Sean, respectively, but their characters have yet to be shown.

The series has been written and created by Jess Bray (The Outlaws), while Alice Snedden (Starstruck) has directed the episodes.

When Break Clause was first announced, Bray said in a statement: "As a hopeless romantic who’s been daydreaming about this show for years, I’m so thrilled and grateful Channel 4 and [co-producer with BBC Studios Comedy] ZDFneo are trusting me to tell more of Ben and Lil’s story.

"We’ve somehow assembled The Avengers of a creative team (never seen it) so here’s hoping we can make something lovely and have a nice time doing it!"

Meanwhile, Charlie Perkins, head of comedy at Channel 4 said: "There was a real alchemy to the creative components of this Comedy Blap, with huge rising stars both on and off screen. Nothing works better than a rom com in the era of people inhaling a series on streaming and this show sits brilliantly distinctively on our Channel 4 Comedy slate. We’re thrilled."
Break Clause will air on Channel 4.
