Gangs of London
Since debuting on Sky Atlantic, Gangs of London has become the channel’s second largest original drama ever after last year’s acclaimed Chernobyl miniseries. It isn’t hard to see why, as the violent thriller has seen strong praise across the board, with RadioTimes.com describing it as “The Godfather meets The Raid” in a four-star Gangs of London review. The Plot Against America

Based on the novel by Philip Roth, this drama series is set in 1940 and imagines an alternate American history told through the eyes of a working-class Jewish family in Newark, New Jersey. They watch the political rise of Charles Lindbergh – a xenophobic populist – who becomes President and turns the nation toward fascism. Against the backdrop of Lindbergh’s calls for America to stay out of World War II, the series stays fixed on this family’s fight against a rise in anti-semitism, led by Winona Ryder as Evelyn Finkel. The gritty crime drama takes place on the city streets of West Baltimore, which are gripped by criminal gangs and the trade of illegal drugs.
