The race is on to feature in the TIME 100 list of the most influential people of the year and while the final rundown is decided by the magazine's editors, reader input comes in the form of an online poll taken into consideration when the list is compiled.
With voting still open, TIME have released details of the poll's early leaders and out in front is Abdul Fattah al-Sisi – the man largely responsible for ousting former Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi in a coup d'etat last year.
The rest of the top ten is dominated by the music industry with Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga neck and neck in second and third place and Rihanna just behind in fourth.
The year's most influential actor, according to readers, is Benedict Cumberbatch who graced the cover of TIME last year and dominated cinemas with appearances in Star Trek Into Darkness, The Fifth Estate, The Hobbit, 12 Years a Slave and August: Osage County.
The Sherlock actor comes ahead of Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who recently made headlines for banning social media in his country.
The reader vote will close at 11:59pm on April 22 before the TIME 100 list is unveiled on April 24. If you're unimpressed by the current standings, you can still vote in the poll here.
