It's now been unveiled just who will be starring as Thor’s wife Phoebe/Sif, with Discovery of Witches star Teresa Palmer confirmed for the role.

The live-action Prime Video series will be focused on the reboot of the video game, focusing on the Norse era, and has already received a two season order. Development has been underway since 2022 but now, pre-production has kicked off in Vancouver and casting has now begun. So, that only means more exciting casting announcements to come.

Australian actress Palmer is known for her roles in films like The Grudge 2, The Sorcerer's Apprentice and The Fall Guy, having also had starring roles in TV shows like Discovery of Witches, Mix Tape and The Family Next Door.

She will be joining Ryan Hurst, who will be playing Kratos in the new series and himself played Thor in God of War: Ragnarök.

His official character description is as follows: "The titular character of the entire franchise, Kratos is Spartan by birth, and a god by nature. Raised in a martial culture, he rose to command armies in service of his homeland until one day he made a fateful deal with Ares, the Greek God of War and lost his soul in exchange for being victorious in battle.

"Over the course of ten wildly successful games, Kratos vanquished mortals, creatures and gods alike. In the process, he became an iconic character in pop culture, known for his stoic nature, unchallenged combat skills, and tragic past.

"In God of War, the live action series, his story will closely follow the path of the last two games as he deals with something new: his ten year old son Atreus. This father and son dynamic began a whole new chapter in the legendary series and will be the heartbeat of the new show."

The burning question still remains as to who will play Kratos's son Atreus, especially as the show will centre on the father and son as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye.

The synopsis continues: "Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human."

The new series comes from writer, showrunner and executive producer Ronald D. Moore, who is known for his work on Outlander, Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica, being joined by Frederick E.O. Toye (Shōgun, The Boys), who will direct the first two episodes in the series.
