Bluey defeats Stranger Things and more as most-streamed TV series of 2025
The blue cartoon dog continues to have a firm grip on viewers.
2025 was a big year for television, including such highlights as The Stranger Things grand finale, the regeneration of Billie Piper in Doctor Who, the cutting edge Adolescence and we all went absolutely insane for The Traitors.
But despite the very serious competition, it was kids TV series Bluey that took the crown as the year's most streamed show, for the second time running!
For those that aren't familiar, Bluey is an Australian animated kids TV show about an energetic Blue Heeler puppy named Bluey and her younger sister Bingo.
The 7-minute episodes follow the sisters as they get up to adventures and interact with each other and those around them, emphasising a focus on emotional intelligence and realistic family dynamics.
It's not the first time cartoon dogs have taken the world by storm with Snoopy and Clifford the Big Red Dog being favourites of days of yore.
The release of Strangers Things' final season had it dominating viewing figures, spending the last five weeks of the year in the top spot with 25.1 billion recorded viewing minutes, making it the most-watched Netflix original show of the year, but that wasn't enough for it to knock the animated dogs down a peg.
Nielsen's streaming ratings saw Bluey retain the title for a second year with a total of 45.2 billion minutes of viewing time on Disney+. In 2023, the show was only beaten by Grey’s Anatomy, which has a back catalogue of 455 45 minute episodes, compared to the kids show's lowly 154.
The top three most streamed shows in 2025 in order were Bluey with 45.2 billion minutes, closely followed by Grey's Anatomy at 40.92 billion minutes, and Stranger Things in third with 39.95 billion. Meanwhile, the fourth and fifth spots were taken by NCIS with 36.94 billion minutes and, another animated kids show, SpongeBob SquarePants with 34.35 billion minutes.
All seasons of Bluey are available to watch on Disney+ but can also be streamed in the UK on BBC iPlayer.
