It's that time of year again when fans of The White Lotus can expect a flurry of cast announcements, with surprise and intrigue building with each one.

That's certainly the case with the latest pair of additions, as it's now been revealed that Alan Partridge star Steve Coogan will be checking into the five-star hotel for season 4, according to Deadline.

Coogan is, of course, known for a variety of roles over the years, most recently starring in The Penguin Lessons, Channel 4's Brian and Maggie and How Are You? It's Alan (Partridge). As well as his stint portraying former BBC presenter and DJ Jimmy Savile in The Reckoning, it's safe to say that Coogan is no stranger to impressions, topical drama or comedy. So, consider our interest most certainly piqued for his upcoming role in The White Lotus.

As per usual, character details are firmly under wraps about what will unfold in season 4, but we do know that this season will unfold in France, with Château de La Messardière in Saint-Tropez tipped as the central location.

Alongside Coogan, it's also been announced that newcomer Caleb Jonte Edwards will also be joining the cast of season 4, with the actor's only other previous role in the Australian crime drama Black Snow.

Coogan and Edwards's casting comes after the first pair of White Lotus season 4 additions were announced just before Christmas, with it being confirmed that Vikings star Alexander Ludwig and The Goldbergs's AJ Michalka will be starring.

For now, the rumour mill about the other cast members continues to whirl, with it previously being reported that Helena Bonham Carter is in talks for a starring role, as well as Chris Messina.

What we do know is that with Mike White's signature twisty storytelling and humour, season 4 will be another addition to the hit series that not only boasts well-known stars but also rising talent.

Season 3 featured the likes of Natasha Rothwell, Jason Isaacs, Walton Goggins, Carrie Coon and Parker Posey, as well as Carrie Coon, Aimee Lou Wood, Michelle Monaghan, Sam Nivola and Patrick Schwarzenegger. As for whether we'll be seeing the return of any previous characters, we'll just have to wait and see, but it's usually the case that we follow an entirely new set of guests each season anyway.

As of now, a release date has also not been confirmed for the upcoming fourth instalment, but it has been reported that production could start this spring. So, that only means that there will be further exciting casting announcements set to be made in due course!

The White Lotus seasons 1-3 are available on Sky and NOW.
