The Australian actor, who is also known for HBO's hit series Euphoria, steps into the role of Dorrigo Evans, an Australian soldier during World War II, who endures horrific treatment in a Japanese prisoner of war camp.

The brutal conflict breaks out amid Dorrigo's seemingly doomed romance with Amy Mulvaney (Odessa Young), the wife of his uncle, Keith (The Mentalist's Simon Baker), who is approximately three decades her senior.

The story of their romance is played out over a long timeframe, with Academy Award nominee Ciarán Hinds tapped to play an older version of Dorrigo, whose story we revisit decades after the war.

Following a successful launch in the United States on Prime Video, The Narrow Road to the Deep North is finally arriving in the UK this month, courtesy of BBC One and iPlayer – here's your introduction to the cast.
