CoD BO6 season 5 release date: Early patch notes explained
Two more to go!

Although players are already turning their minds towards Black Ops 7, in the short-term we've got the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 5 release date to look forward to.
But even though the developers are hard at work on the sequel, Season 5 is already shaping up to be a big one, with new maps, weapons and modes coming to the game.
So, with what could be the second-to-last season of Black Ops 6, here's when the Season 5 release date is and what's coming in the early patch notes.
When is the CoD BO6 Season 5 release date?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 4 is currently scheduled to release at 5pm on 7th August 2025.
This is the UK launch time, so here's how that translates to a few other time zones:
- US West Coast (PDT) – 9am
- US East Coast (ED) – 12pm
- Central Europe (CEST) – 6pm
- Australia East Coast (AEST) – 2am 8th August
- New Zealand (NZST) – 4am 8th August
While this is the confirmed date at the time of writing, you can't account for everything, and there's always a chance that the update could be pushed back due to unforeseen reasons.
What to expect from CoD BO6 Season 5: Early patch notes explained
There's a lot to go through, so we've split everything up into a few different sections to make things easier to read.
Zombies finale
Perhaps the biggest piece of content coming to the game in Season 5 is the grand finale of the Zombies storyline.
The final map – Reckoning – will see the gang explore the Project Janus Headquarters as their swan song before BO7 releases.
This will, of course, introduce a new main quest, unique rewards and new zombie types, but there are a couple of big new additions too.
A new Elite enemy called Uber Klaus, a zombie in a mech suit, will be introduced, and you'll be able to take it down with the new Gorgofex Wonder Weapon, a gun that fires "a slug of Aether-based energy".
Multiplayer maps and modes
We're getting three maps to start Season 5, with a fourth joining mid-season. These are:
- Runway (Launch)
- Brand-New, Core, 6v6, Medium-Sized
- Exchange (Launch)
- Brand-New, Strike, 6v6/2v2, Small-Sized
- World Motor Dynasty (W.M.D.) (Launch)
- Remaster, Core, 6v6, Medium-Sized
- Jackpot (Mid-Season)
- Inspired by Black Ops 4, Core, 6v6, Medium-Sized
As well as all of these shiny new maps, there will be a glut of new game modes to try out, as well as some returning ones. Here's the full list:
- Aim High (New)
- Snipers Only (New)
- Cranked Demolition (New)
- Cranked Moshpit (Returning)
- Ransack (Returning)
- Blueprint Gunfight (Returning)
New weapons
No new season of CoD would be complete without new weapons, and Season 5 is bringing us four of them: three guns and one melee.
Here are all of the new weapons coming next season:
- PML 5.56 (Machine Gun)
- ABR A1 (Assault Rifle)
- Gravemark .357 Revolver (Pistol)
- Boxing Gloves (Melee)
A returning Scorestreak
While not coming with the launch of Season 5, we're getting a returning Scorestreak at the season's midpoint.
The Combat Bow returns for the first time since Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, offering players the chance to relive the action.
Here's how it's described by the devs: "Step out of the jungle and become a lone action her, firing single-shot, explosive-tipped arrows that explode on impact, dealing incendiary damage to all enemies caught in its trajectory and leaving a trail of fire in its wake."
New events
Last but not least, we've got some new events to look forward to this season, each of which will bring us a ton of unique rewards to enjoy.
Each event has its own theme to keep things fresh, and will arrive at various points throughout the season:
- '90s Action Heroes (MP, ZP, WZ) (In-Season)
- 13 Total Rewards including Boxing Gloves Melee Weapon and Mister Peeks Zombies Field Upgrade
- Operation: Hell Ride (MP, ZP, WZ) (Mid-Season)
- Rewards including Gravemark .357 Revolver
- Atomic Block Party (MP, ZM, WZ) (Mid-Season)
- The Reckoning Leaderboard Event (ZM)
As well as all of that, we'll also get a brand-new Battle Pass and a whole raft of balance changes, which we'll know more about once the update arrives on Thursday!
