Fantastic Four: First Steps' Rotten Tomatoes score finally revealed after wave of reviews
Just how Fantastic is this new version of Marvel's first family?

Phase 6 of the MCU is about to kick off with the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps - and we now know what the first batch of critics to have seen the movie thought of it.
The initial Rotten Tomatoes score is in for the film, with the rating reflecting the percentage of reviews to have been released thus far that skew positive rather than negative.
At the time of writing on Wednesday 23rd July, the film has a Tomatometer score of 86% from 130 views, making it easily the highest rated film outing for the Fantastic Four to date, and a strong start for Phase 6.
That also puts it just behind the most recent MCU film Thunderbolts*, which is on 88%, but above all other Phase 5 movies including Captain America: Brave New World, Deadpool & Wolverine, The Marvels, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which is the 37th film in the MCU and one of the shortest to date, introduces Pedro Pascal's Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby's Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn's Johnny Storm/Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach's Ben Grimm/The Thing.
These versions of the characters are not, at first, in the main universe of the MCU, and are instead in their own retro-futurist universe. However, knowing that they will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, and considering the post-credits scene of Thunderbolts*, we imagine that won't last long.
This is the last MCU film to be released this year, although a number of other Disney+ projects are set to follow.
Then, next year, fans can get ready to see Tom Holland's Spider-Man back on the big screen in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, while the end of the year will bring Avengers: Doomsday, the first Avengers film since 2019's Endgame.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is in UK cinemas from Thursday 24th July 2025.
