Fans will see special behind-the-scenes footage as the cast and crew prepare to shoot their final episodes April this year. As a thanks to years of dedication, it will also soon be announced how fans themselves can get involved with the special. The celebratory documentary will feature contributions from the public as River City's biggest fans share the surprising impact the show has had on their lives, including a collection of their favourite memories from the drama-soaked soap.

Meanwhile, the documentary will be directed by none other than River City's own Tony Kearney, who is now Executive Producer for Solus Productions. Kearney, who starred for nearly ten years as original cast member Scott Wallace following its launch in September 2002, announced: "Having been in the first scene on the very first day of River City, it will be a full circle moment and a real privilege for me observing the final scene being filmed."

Gavin Smith, Commissioning Editor for Drama, BBC Scotland added: "We're thrilled that the Solus team will be producing this fabulous celebration of Shieldinch as part of our River City finale plans. It will be a lovely stroll down Montego Street memory lane full of great clips and great stories."

River City: Our Story will air in Autumn 2026 on BBC iPlayer and BBC Scotland.
