Classic sci-fi series Stargate SG-1, which originally aired between 1997 and 2007, is heading back to Netflix, several years after it was last available on the platform.

All 10 seasons of the long-running show will arrive on Netflix in the US and select international territories from Monday 15th February 2026, with the UK confirmed as one of the regions included in the new licensing deal.

Stargate SG-1 serves as a continuation of the 1994 movie Stargate, which introduced the idea of an ancient alien portal capable of transporting humans to distant planets.

Set roughly a year after the film’s events, the series follows Colonel Jack O’Neill (Richard Dean Anderson), who leads a team through the Stargate on missions to other worlds. He is joined by archaeologist Dr Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks), astrophysicist Major Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) and Teal’c (Christopher Judge), a former enemy who defects to Earth after rebelling against the parasitic Goa'uld.

As the series progressed, its success led to spin-off shows including Stargate Atlantis, set in the lost city of Atlantis in a distant galaxy, and Stargate Universe, following events aboard an ancient starship. A pair of TV films, The Ark of Truth and Continuum, later brought SG-1’s storylines to a close.

Stargate SG-1 previously streamed on Netflix in the US, before being removed in December 2022.

The news also comes as the Stargate saga looks to the future, with a new reboot currently in development for Prime Video, led by franchise veteran Martin Gero.

"Twenty years ago, my first real job in television was as a Story Editor on Stargate Atlantis," Gero said upon the revival's announcement in November.

"I spent five years at the franchise working across all three series, Stargate taught me everything about making television – it’s written into my DNA."

He added: "I’m beyond thrilled that Amazon MGM Studios has entrusted me with guiding this incredible franchise into its next phase.

"For those who’ve kept the gate active through conventions, rewatches, and unwavering faith — this one’s for you. And for those that are new to our world – I promise you’re in for something extraordinary."
