Daredevil: Born Again season 2 has treated fans to a double episode drop - and confirmed some key information about a character we've not seen in years.

Episode 2 of the new season sees Dex (Wilson Bethel) AKA Bullseye paying a visit to Clinton Church. He meets Seminarian (Bartley Booz), and asks her about the whereabouts of none other than Sister Maggie (Joanne Whalley), the mother of our very own Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox).

Seminarian confirms that Sister Maggie is on a sabbatical year in Rome, which explains her absence in the rebooted show.

For anyone who might, understandably, need a refresher since Netflix's Daredevil season 3 aired (checks notes) eight years ago, Sister Maggie had an affair with Jack Murdock, having Matt out of wedlock. In The Defenders, she revealed to him that she's his mother, after caring for him in the basement of a church after a particularly brutal battle.

Fans are delighted by the reference to Sister Maggie, especially with the confirmation that she is safe and well (at least for now).

Whalley previously addressed the possibility of returning to the franchise, telling ComicBook.com in 2022: "I loved Daredevil! I had such a great time on that, oh my God. I haven't heard anything [about returning], but I would love to get the wimple on again, though. Talking about characters to play again, I loved her."

Here's hoping!

So far this season, Matt, Karen (Deborah Ann Woll) and co have been working in secret to oppose Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) AKA Kingpin by breaking into Red Hook free port.

But the latest episode ended with the villain committing a heinous atrocity, with Matt realising he had ordered the AVTF (Anti-Vigilante Task Force) to kill the entire night crew on the Northern Star, a cargo ship carrying military-grade weapons to the port.

It certainly seems like Matt and Karen are going to need some back-up.
