The Great British Sewing's Patrick Grant details "rare" decision-making with Esme Young
Is it ever that easy to send someone home?

When it comes to The Great British Sewing Bee, it is no easy feat when it comes to deciding to send a sewer home, but it's a tough decision that judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young have to make.
So far, two people have been sent home in the competition and tonight (5th August), there will be a third as the sewers take on Korea Week, with tasks considerably more difficult than others they have done.
With both Grant and Young forced to make the decision, it's fair to assume that at times they may not always agree, but that couldn't be further from the truth.
In an exclusive interview with RadioTimes.com, Grant revealed that more often than not, he and Young "are on kind of the same wavelength".
He explained: "There are two difficulties. There's obviously the difficulty of choosing, in my head, my order, and then there is the difficulty of squaring that with the order that Esme has in in her head. That one is less difficult because, as I say, we are mostly on the same wavelength."
It is often quite the rarity for the pair not agree when it comes to making the final decision, but occasionally there are times they have to "drag other members of the team to mediate and bounce ideas off".

"It is sometimes hard in my own head to decide which two garments I would place ahead [of each other]," he told RadioTimes.com. "They're quite often technically excellent, really brilliant, creative ideas and then ultimately it just comes down to gut feel[ing]."
He continued: "How does this garment make me feel? Do I feel more positive about this one than this other one? And that's basically [what] it usually boils down to. There are easy technical grading points, and then there are the intangible design/creativity points that you just have to go on."
Tonight, the teams take on the aforementioned Korea week, in which they are tasked with taking on the jeogori, a historic Korean garment now seen in contemporary womenswear and K-pop style, as well as Taekwondo outfits and colourful belts, before they take on the Made to Measure challenge in which the sewers design evening wear inspired by the cheollik.
"I've just had a long fascination with the culture and the aesthetics of Korea and my friend Eudon Choi [guest judge], was a very good customer of mine," Grant told RadioTimes.com.
He added: "He's a terrifically talented designer, but also just a really nice guy, and it took him about five minutes to kind of settle into his role as judge. And he was great fun on set. He got on super well with all of our sewers."
The Great British Sewing Bee continues on Wednesdays at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
