Peter Capaldi's acclaimed Criminal Record gets season 2 release date confirmed with new first look images
The second season will hit TV screens later this year.

First look images have been released as the release date for the second season of Peter Capaldi's Criminal Record is confirmed.
The show stars Doctor Who legend Peter Capaldi as Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty and Cush Jumbo as Detective Sergeant June Lenker, known for Vera and The Good Wife.
In season 2, when a young man is stabbed to death at a political rally, rival police officers June Lenker and Daniel Hegarty are forced into an uneasy alliance. But what starts as a hunt for a murderer escalates into an undercover operation to foil a far-right bomb plot in the heart of London.

The second season of the acclaimed crime drama will return to Apple TV on Wednesday 22nd April.
In anticipation of the new 8 episode season, Apple TV has released five first-look images to give fans a glimpse of what they can expect.

One of the photos shows Peter Capaldi in a large group of people with a concerned look on his face whilst another photo appears to be from a similar scene, but instead depicts Cush Jumbo with her arms crossed.
Another photo show new cast member actor and comedian Dustin Demri-Burns stood in front of multiple microphones appearing to give a press conference.

The tension between the two lead characters is encapsulated in another first look image where they are sat side-by-side in an interrogation room. Jumbo looks straight ahead and sits with her hands clasped together on the table whilst Capaldi looks at her quizzically.
Apple's last glimpse into the new series is a close-up of Luther Ford's new character, wearing a cap with a vindictive look on his face. Known for The Crown and Black Doves, Ford is a versatile actor whose role in this new season is highly-anticipated.

Other new cast members this season include Luca Pasqualino from Skins, Lyndsey Marshal and Peter Sullivan whilst familiar faces Shaun Dooley, Stephen Campbell Moore and Charlie Creed-Miles will all be returning from season 1.
Criminal Record season two will air on Wednesday 22nd April on Apple TV.
