Gatiss has created and stars in Bookish, a new series in which he plays a bookshop owner in 1946 London, who also aids in the police in crime-solving.

The series is made up of six episodes, which are split into two-episode stories - each following Gabriel Book as he tries to crack another case.

Meanwhile, we also follow the story of his marriage to Trottie (Polly Walker), his best friend who he loves dearly. They are in a "lavender marriage" - Book is secretly gay at a time when homosexuality was illegal, and the pair of them pursue their own romantic interests outside of the marriage.

The series also stars the likes of Connor Finch and Elliot Levey, while Joely Richardson and Daniel Mays are amongst those who make guest appearances. But when and how can viewers watch the series?

Read on for everything you need to know about how to watch Bookish.

There are a few different ways that you can tune into Bookish. One option is to watch the episodes when they air on U&Alibi.

Episodes are airing as two-parters each Wednesday on the channel, with the first episode in each block starting at 8pm.

Meanwhile, the second episode each Wednesday will start airing straight after, at 9:15pm, with the whole thing coming to a close by 10:25pm. This will be the case for three weeks, from 16th July through to 30th July, when the season finale airs.

However, if you simply can't wait to see the whole lot, then all six episodes are already available to stream on Sky, Virgin, BT and TalkTalk.

The official synopsis for Bookish says: "London, 1946 is the dynamic, dangerous and chaotic setting for this stylish new detective drama, with the eccentric Gabriel Book (Gatiss) at the very heart of the story: a self-appointed consultant detective to the local police. The thousands of books that line the shelves of his shop provide him with all the knowledge he needs.

"Book has gathered around him a host of lovable, damaged misfits whom he informally protects, cajoles, and mentors. His wife Trottie (Walker) runs the wallpaper shop next door. She's a charismatic adventuress whom Book loves deeply but not physically, for they are in a 'lavender' marriage to help conceal Book's sexual orientation in a time when it was illegal to be gay.

"Bookish marries post-war nostalgia with the reckless and life-affirming atmosphere of the times, creating a fast-paced and stylish detective drama."

The series has been written by and stars Mark Gatiss, and it has already been renewed for season 2.
