Grantchester season 11: Release date speculation, cast, plot and latest news for final episodes
One last hurrah.

The unlikely partnership between DI Geordie Keating and his local vicar – first Sidney Chambers, then William Davenport, and last, but by no means least, Alphy Kotteram – has been the beating heart of Grantchester.
The period drama, which airs on ITV in the UK and PBS across the pond, first debuted in the heady days of 2014 and now has an impressive 10 seasons under its belt – something many shows could only ever dream of.
"As I'm in the last third of my life, I want to work with people I love working with and do projects that make me genuinely happy and push me creatively," co-lead Robson Green said previously.
"But in the end, I just really want to have fun doing what I love. And Grantchester caters for those needs... long may it continue."
We already know it's returning for season 11 after the news was confirmed in July last year – but when might it air? And how long will it keep going for?
Here's everything you need to know about Grantchester season 11 and beyond.
Is Grantchester ending with season 11?
Sadly yes. Season 11 will be the drama's final instalment.
"From the very beginning, I have had the incredible fortune to be part of this extraordinary team of talented, passionate, and dedicated individuals who have become more than colleagues," said Green, who's been part of the show from the very beginning. "They have become family. I have made friendships forged through shared laughter, challenges, and triumphs.
"The bonds we’ve formed extend far beyond the camera lens, and I know that they will endure long after the final scene within the Grantchester world has been filmed. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey."
Rishi Nair, who joined in season 9 as Alphy, said it had been "the greatest honour to step into the world of Grantchester and be part of a show with so much heart".
"I’ve had the privilege of telling stories that mean so much to so many, and I’m deeply thankful for that," he added.
"As we begin filming this final chapter, I do so with a full heart and endless gratitude – for the memories, the friendships, and the incredible journey we’ve shared."
Whew.... is something cutting onions?
Grantchester season 11 release date speculation: When could it air?
Filming kicked off last summer, so we wouldn't be surprised if new episodes arrived in the UK in 2027 (the show typically airs a year prior on PBS in the US) – especially given that season 10 finishes its run on 19 February.
Considering the release pattern for the last three seasons, we'd expect it to arrive in January 2027.
Grantchester season 11 cast: Who's returning?

Robson Green and Rishi Nair are both back as Geordie Keating and Alphy Kotteram respectively.
They will also be joined by the following regulars:
- Kacey Ainsworth as Cathy Keating
- Al Weaver as Leonard Finch
- Tessa Peake-Jones as Mrs C
- Oliver Dimsdale as Daniel Marlowe
- Nick Brimble as Jack Chapman
- Bradley Hall as DC Larry Peters
- Melissa Johns as Miss Scott
It remains to be seen if there will be any cameos – there was speculation that James Norton could make an appearance, although that has been downplayed – and which new guest stars have joined.
Grantchester season 11 plot: What will happen?

Alphy does a lot of thinking about his future in the final instalment as he learns more about his own past – and wonders if there's more to the life he's living. Unfolding alongside that is his relationship with Meg, the bishop's daughter
Elsewhere: "Geordie, for once, is positively brimming with bonhomie! He’s learned to weather the storms of life and is enjoying a time of relative peace. Cathy's happy now that CeCe's Fashion Boutique is a success, and the kids are old enough to look after themselves!
"But then, out of the blue, the Chief Superintendent comes to Geordie with a beguiling offer. It could be a chance for Geordie to finally be in charge, but it could also mean an end of his crime solving days. And his crime solving partnership with Alphy.
"During a quiet period at the halfway house, Leonard finds himself with time on his hands, and a chance to take stock of his own life and whether he’s doing enough with it. When one of Daniel’s neighbours becomes ill, Leonard is drawn into helping care for the neighbour’s son Raymond – and discovers a paternal side to himself he never knew he had."
