Bookish season 2: Release date speculation and news
Will Gabriel Book be back to crack some more cases?

As the first season of Bookish starts airing on U&Alibi, it is now already available to watch in full on Sky, Virgin, BT and TalkTalk.
The detective series, which both stars and has been created by Mark Gatiss, follows Gabriel Book, the owner of an antiquarian bookshop in 1946 London who also has a penchant for catching criminals.
Every two episodes follow Book as he takes on a new case, while there are also a number of underlying storylines running right through the season - not all of which have been completely brought to a close by the end of episode 6.
So, will there be another season to further explore these, and to see Book investigating a whole selection of new cases? Read on for everything you need to know about Bookish season 2.
Will there be a Bookish season 2?

There will! In fact, Bookish was renewed well before the first season had even debuted - a full two months before, back in May 2025.
On the renewal announcement, Gatiss said: "I’m thrilled that the team at U&Alibi are allowing me to dive back into the world of Bookish and create more fiendish crimes for Gabriel Book and the team to solve.
"I can’t wait for viewers to immerse themselves in the world we’ve created when the first series airs in a few months’ time."
When will Bookish season 2 be released?

We don't yet know for certain when Bookish season 2 will debut, but things are looking up for the prospect that we won't have to wait too long.
Not only was the show renewed well ahead of season 1 debuting, but it was later confirmed that filming on season 2 would begin in summer 2025.
Hopefully this means that we could see season 2 in about a year's time, in summer 2026, and that the show may be able to stick to a yearly schedule.
However, for now we'll have to wait and see, with nothing having yet been confirmed regarding an official release date. We will make sure to update this page as and when we get any further news.
Who will star in Bookish season 2?

We already know that all of the central cast for Bookish season 1 will be returning for season 2, including, of course, Gatiss.
Joining him will be Polly Walker, Connor Finch, Elliot Levey, Blake Harrison and Buket Kömür, all reprising their season 1 roles.
They will be joined by a host of new guest stars surrounding each case that Book investigates - although exactly who they are has yet to be confirmed for season 2.
Here's a full list of the cast we currently know will be starring in Bookish season 2:
- Mark Gatiss as Gabriel Book
- Polly Walker as Trottie Book
- Connor Finch as Jack
- Elliot Levey as Inspector Bliss
- Blake Harrison as Sergeant Morris
- Buket Kömür as Nora
