BBC's Balamory revival series releases first-look image as iconic cast members return for filming
Production has begun!

After much anticipation, the BBC has unveiled a first look at filming on the new Balamory, with a number of cast members set to return to the show.
It was confirmed last year that the iconic children's series would be making a return to TV screens next year, including beloved characters Miss Hoolie, PC Plum, Penny Pocket and Edie McCredie as played by their original actors.
"A whole new generation will discover and enjoy Balamory as we bring families together with this new update for CBeebies," said Kate Morton, the head of commissioning for the 0-6 age group at BBC Children's and Education.
"It will be a real treat for parents who grew up with the show to now introduce their little ones to the brightly coloured world, getting to know a host of old and new characters together."
The newly released image shows Miss Hoolie star Julie Wilson Nimmo holding a clapperboard as she prepares to shoot a scene.

As previously announced, the new episodes will feature a mix of familiar faces and new characters, offering preschoolers "a joyful mix of stories, comedy, songs and adventures".
Andrew Agnew (PC Plum), Kim Tserkezie (Penny Pocket) and Juliet Cadzow (Edie McCredie) will all be returning.
New characters include scientist and inventor Ava Potts (played by Danielle Jam), local vet Dr Ollie (Carl Spencer) who lives with his two children, and the Harbour Master (William Andrews).

Production has now kicked off, with filming set to take place in Glasgow and on location in Tobermory, the real-life Isle of Mull town that inspired the original show's setting.
Morton added: "It’s wonderful to see some of the original cast returning alongside new faces, creating a perfect mix of nostalgia and discovery for families to enjoy together.
"This vibrant new series will delight both children and the grown-ups who remember it fondly."
Balamory will air on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer in 2026.
