One of the biggest challenges in Nioh 3 is the infamous secret boss the Bloodedge Demon.

Forget the likes of Yamagata Masakage – not only is this demon a nightmare to fight, but it's even a nightmare to find.

You'll want to make sure you're busting out the parry for this one, otherwise you'll be sent packing back to the nearest Shrine in no time.

While you're here, you may as well brush up on how to emote, as well as how Spirit Veins work.

But for those of you intent on taking it down, here's how to find the Bloodedge Demon and, more importantly, how to beat it.

Where to find the Bloodedge Demon in Nioh 3

Unlike most bosses in Nioh 3, the Bloodedge Demon does not have one set location. Instead, every time it spawns, it will be located somewhere new.

To find it, you need to summon and defeat Revenants. These are the little red markers dotted around the world.

After killing a Revenant, the red energy they leave behind will begin to move in the direction of the Bloodedge Demon, with a red arrow appearing on your map to mark the general direction.

The best way we found to locate the Bloodedge Demon is, once you've killed your first Revenant, head around halfway across the map and kill another one. From here, repeat that process to repeatedly narrow it down.

Just don't kill too many of them, as the more Revenants you kill, the more powerful the Bloodedge Demon becomes, which you really don't want.

You'll know when you've found it, because the Bloodedge Demon's spawn point is marked by a giant mass of crystals emitting a pulsing, purple energy – believe us, you'll know it when you see it.

From here, simply head up to it and hold R1/RB on your controller to summon it, and get ready for one hell of a fight.

How to beat the Bloodedge Demon in Nioh 3

The Bloodedge Demon fight is seriously challenging, especially at a lower level, so we recommend being at least Level 25 before fighting it, but higher is always better.

If you can find some Acolytes nearby to summon, that will be a big help too, as they can help chip away at the Demon, as well as draw a bit of the aggro.

As for the fight itself, we recommend playing in Samurai style to make use of the stronger armour, and equipping a slow but powerful weapon like an Axe to get some big hits in between the Demon's attacks.

The Bloodedge Demon uses a lot of fast and hard-hitting attacks, and we found that the best way to deal with this is often simply to tank them. Combos that hit once or twice can be parried to get some much-needed Ki damage in, while others can often be blocked.

Hit and run tactics are also quite effective. We recommend swapping to Ninja style fairly regularly, throwing out any and all Ninjutsu you have, and then returning to Samurai style.

Every now and then, the Demon will prepare an unblockable attack, marked by red energy. It's easy to run away from this, but we suggest getting in its face and using your Burst Break to deal plenty of Ki damage.

Between parrying, Burst Breaks and good old fashioned smacking it, we managed to stagger the Bloodedge Demon two or three times across the fight.

Last but not least, it should go without saying, but use your Living Artifact as soon as your Amrita Gauge is full for some massive damage.

Even using all these tips, this is a tough fight, so don't be discouraged if you find yourself struggling.

The Bloodedge Demon respawns regularly, so there's nothing stopping you from levelling up a few more times before coming back to fight it again.

Nioh 3 Bloodedge Demon rewards

Taking down the Bloodedge Demon will reward you with up to 10 random pieces of high-rarity weapons and armour, all of which will be scaled to your level.

Furthermore, you'll get Umbracite and Bloodedge Demon's Blood, both of which are useful when it comes to forging and reforging items.

And lastly, you'll get a Bloodedge Demon Soul Core and a big chunk of XP, so it's very much worth your while to take this chap down.
