How to change Keldeo form in Pokémon Go explained

Keldeo was finally given a free way to be earned in Pokémon Go by completing Step 1 of the Tales of Transformation Special Research quest, dropped in 2025, but the way to get its powerful Resolute Form is a bit more hidden.

This isn’t the first evolution in the mobile Pokémon game where you need to know about a hidden secret; the ‘Names’ mechanic to get all the Eevee Evolutions in Pokémon Go took that mantle when it first came out in 2026.

To power up the Colt Pokémon and unlock its mighty Secret Sword attack, though, you’ll need to make use of that Special Research again.

Here’s exactly how to change Kelodo into its Resolute Form in Pokémon Go.

How to change Keldeo from Ordinary Form to Resolute Form

In Pokémon Go, you’ll be able to transform your Keldeo and change it into Resolute Form by spending 50 Keldeo Candy and 10,000 Stardust to select the ‘Change Form’ button in its summary page in your Pokémon storage. This means you’ll likely need to complete more steps in the Tales of Transformation Special Research quest to get more Keldeo Candy.

When originally obtaining Keldo as Tales of Transformation dropped, its Resolute Form wasn’t available at the time – not being added until November 2025 as part the Final Justice event, which also marked Shiny Keldeo making its Pokémon Go debut.

Technically, you don’t need to complete more of Tales of Transformation to get enough Keldeo Candy to unlock Resolute Form, but it definitely makes the process incredibly quicker.

If you used a Pinap Berry when catching Keldeo in Pokémon Go (these berries double Catch Candy), you should have the 50 Candy needed to unlock Resolute Form after completing Tales of Transformation’s Step 4 out of 8 — as you’ll receive large amounts as rewards for completing each step.

By comparison, the only way to get more Keldo Candy is by converting Rare Candies or by assigning Keldeo as your Buddy, earning you an extra Keldeo Candy every 20KM.

Rather than walk an extra 940KM to get 44-47 Keldeo Candy, completing more of Tales of Transformation is the far more efficient option.

Once you've unlocked your Resolute Form Keldeo in Pokémon Go, you'll finally have access to Secret Sword in its move set: a very strong Fighting-type Charged attack that has 120 Power in Gym, Raid, and Max Battles whilst having 70 Power in Trainer battles.
